Buy Halloween Clock with Scary Sounds

I really love this clock. It has 2 different spooky sounds that it makes when you press the button, and once on the hour. The sound has a different set of batteries, so if you still want to use the clock without the sounds going off every hour, it's convenient. It's so fun!Get more detail about Halloween Clock with Scary Sounds.

Purchase Wilton 12 Cavity Halloween Cookie Pan

This is a really cute pan, perfect for Halloween. It's not quite as non-stick as I would like. With some of the knooks and crevices in the designs, little bits of cookie get left behind. Overall they come out fairly clean, and they do cook evenly. My kids really like this pan!Get more detail about Wilton 12 Cavity Halloween Cookie Pan.

Tombstone [Blu-ray] Immediately

In my opinion, the Blu-ray format simply isn't for all movies or shows. For instance I don't see the sense in watching say, "Breakfast Club" in Blu-ray. That being said, this is definitely one of those movies that I was happy to see finally released on Blu-ray. I also feel the need to say that of the two movies that were released "Coincidentally" within the same time-frame this one is without doubt the better of the two, the other being the movie titled "Wyatt Earp" starring Kevin Costner. I suppose I just have this thing about Kevin Costner being in a movie, except I thought "Dances With Wolves" was a great movie, yet even then I find myself imagining different actors in that role, and well I'd probably cast Kurt Russell in that movie as well.

THE DVD and BLU-RAY FORMAT:

Sorry, getting back with Tombstone, from a Blu-ray standpoint I enjoyed the crisp detail and in contrast to another review felt that the Audio sounded great. I was, however, disappointed that the release did not include the Director's Cut and wonder why Blu-ray releases continue to make this mistake with excluding other versions since I as remember when the format had first debuted that extra content such as this was one of the great features of having so much more room.

THE MOVIE and CASTING:

As far as the movie and the story, this well so well cast that I was surprised that it didn't win just a ton of awards. Kurt Russel as Wyatt Earp and Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday was brilliant. This along with a cameo appearance of Charlton Heston and the remaining cast of Sam Elliot, Dana Delany, and Bill Paxton just to name a few recreated a legend that will forever mark what the Western Frontier and the rewards and sacrifices that came along with it was all about; A truly excellent film.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

A lot of people think my best friend looks exactly like Kevin Costner and I suppose I see the likeness. I also wonder what "Dances with Wolves" would have been like with say Christian Slater, James Spader, Edward James Olmos, or even Edward Norton?

I give Tombstone the Blu-ray version a 9 out of 10 - 1 point for not having the Director's Cut included.
However Tombstone the Movie a 10 out of 10!Get more detail about Tombstone [Blu-ray].

Seven [Blu-ray Book] Best Quality

This movie has been one of my favorites since the first time I saw it at the theater. This print on Blu Ray takes it to a new level. Pristine picture and sound. Former prints I've seen have been somewhat grainy in the dark scenes but not on this print. All that can be said about the movie has been said. Great acting, tight direction, and one of the best endings ever.Get more detail about Seven [Blu-ray Book].

Quantum of Solace [Blu-ray] Buy Now

Although Quantum of Solace starts where Casino Royale left off, this Bond film does not hold its own with the earlier movie. Daniel Craig is back as Bond, and if it weren't for him and Judi Dench as M, this movie would have been a complete waste.

In this film, Bond is out of control and angry because of what happened in Casino Royale. M is deeply worried about his behavior and whether she can trust him as an agent. As Bond pursues the connections behind an assassination attempt on M, he uncovers Dominic Greene, a weaselly entrepreneur who seems on the surface to be a protector of the environment when, really, he has more devious plans. The violence here seems too set up, as though the screenwriters wanted to dispense entirely with real plot and instead string together some really cool explosions and chase scenes. Let's fact it: those action scenes are only exciting when you care about what is happening. Or you can tell what's happening. If Casino Royale lost focus for ten minutes or so near the end, this one has hardly any focus at all. It seems as though it ended several times over.

That's not to say that the film is terrible. Lackluster would be a better word. Bond aficionados should see it just to complete the viewing experience, especially since the current rights holders seem determined to build more of a Bond history, one film after the next. Daniel Craig remains one of my favorite Bonds -- gritty and flawed and whip-smart.

Reservoir Dogs is Tarantino at his finest. Watching this movie you can see what makes Tarantino so stylistically great. dvd sound on blu ray is not acceptable in 2010. I understand sound is intentionally bad in this movie, but

Lost: The Complete Collection [Blu-ray] Right now

i know this is a pre-review, but, barring some glaring technical glitch, this will be a truly great set. LOST is a show unlike any other in the history of the medium. not only is it a great show, with inspired acting, inspiring music, gorgeous photography, and trippy storylines... not only does it have deep characterizations and an even deeper mythology... not only is it cinematic in scope yet intimate in the smallest character moments... not only is it, like, totally addicting. it's also the first time (at least here in the u.s.) that a t.v. series has a complete beginning, middle and end, just as the creators intended it.

so many shows start out brilliantly, chug along for a while on that inspiration, then start to peter out somewhere along the way and then... stop (twin peaks). or, are episodic in nature and don't have the burden of having to *end* properly. but LOST started off with a bang, settled in with the characters and their predicament, started to repeat itself *just* a bit, then decided that it needed to end at a certain point and started it's long steady march toward it's denouement. and it's been nothing but greatness ever since.

it's often said that movies are like short stories, and t.v. is more like a novel.

well, we have our first truly great novel.Get more detail about Lost: The Complete Collection [Blu-ray].

Decent movie, but definately not anything great. Maybe you could describe it a a western if Dr. Phil or Oprah was directing. Also contains an annoying kid as Christian Bale's eldest son (what is this? The Wonder Years?). Some of the acting is decent, some is bad. There is a lot of weak dialogue. Saving Private Ryan (Sapphire Series) [Blu-ray]

David Belasco once said, "If you can't write your idea on the back of my calling card, you don't have a clear idea. So I'll keep this brief.
What a great movie this could have been. The images of the opening scenes--stunning, gripping, so beautifully done. And there were the singular moments in the military admin offices where the brothers' notification letters where detected as being from the same parents, and the general movingly quotes Abraham Lincoln, and so forth. Sitting there in the theatre, you sense that you are watching a piece of marvelous film-making that will truly become a classic.
Then you sit aghast as the spirit of Modern Hollywood drips over the screen, and before your eyes the movie becomes stupidified. You see an American soldier sobbing like a baby on a staircase while he listens to a fellow soldier struggling in a hand-to-hand fight-to-the-death just feet away at the top of the stairs ending when a bayonet is gingerly pushed into his chest. Is this supposed to be a depiction of some cosmic melodramatic reality? And then we later see this pathetic soldier in the ending battle on the bridge execute that same German soldier who is standing there surrendered with his hands up. What are we supposed to "feel"? Elation, as if this kid "finally became a man"?
At the ending, there was that marvelous scene when Ryan morphs into an old man, standing again at the Normandy cemetery. So beautifully done. I wanted to feel something, but it just wasn't there. The preceding moments in the movie so strikingly offend one's sensibilities, that there is just taint left.
I was surprised that someone the likes of Dale Dye was willing to let his name be applied to this project.Get more detail about Saving Private Ryan (Sapphire Series) [Blu-ray].

Alien Anthology [Blu-ray] This instant

While I don't own this product and I'm sure the series has made an incredible transfer to blu-ray I feel that it is probably most wise to wait for the individual releases of the films. Speaking in strictly aesthetic terms, the first two films are incredible and the later two are of extremely poor quality. Alice in Wonderland [Blu-ray] Best Quality

I can't speak for the DVD, but I saw this movie in the theater and was disappointed. I know Disney already did a good animated version of Alice In Wonderland, so perhaps this was supposed to be an update. And it does look good . . . It's done by Tim Burton, so what else? The animation is state of the art, if more than a little creepy in places, but the real disappointment is the story. For one; it isn't Alice In Wonderland. And it's not Through the Looking Glass, either. What we have here is really "Alice Grows Up and Goes Back To Wonderland." In this story, instead of nonsense, we have a rather clichéd, "classic battle of good against evil," updated. So if you like the "chicks rule" mindset, you might approve, but calling it Alice In Wonderland is rather a deception. Of course, if you're a Tim Burton fan, as many of us are, this is a real feast for the eyes, and it may even wear well with time.Get more detail about Alice in Wonderland [Blu-ray].

How to Train Your Dragon (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Dragon Double Pack) [Blu-ray] Order Now

I enjoyed the movie in terms of the comedy and the characterizations, but I was extremely sorry that I brought my grandchildren to see it because of the dangerously naive message it conveys: If we are kind and understanding to our enemies, they will stop fighting us and become our friends. This is lovely in fantasy realms, but does anyone really believe it will work in the real world? Look at where this kind of thinking got Neville Chamberlain and Europe in WWII. I would not recommend this movie unless you want your kids and grandkids to be indoctrinated into allowing people to walk all over them.

Dark City (Director's Cut) [Blu-ray] Decide Now

I've always loved this movie, and when I saw that it was available in Blu-Ray I jumped at it. I was interested that it contains both the director's cut and the original theatrical version, and have watched, and enjoyed, both. But, contrary to my pre-conceptions, I prefer the theatrical version. This is often the case; the compromises directors are "forced" to make sometimes make for a better move in the end: Last of the Mohicans and Blade Runner come to mind as other examples. Yet I cannot figure out why this should be so.

Anyway, a great movie, wonderfully rendered in Blu-Ray, and at a great price.Get more detail about Dark City (Director's Cut) [Blu-ray].

Gladiator (Sapphire Series) [Blu-ray] Right now

Although I own the regular DVD version of Gladiator, I figured I may as well upgrade to Blu-ray since it was on sale. Needless to say, I recommend saving your money and spending it elsewhere. Heck, gambling it away on lottery tickets may garner a more quantifiable return than the visual mess contained on this disc. It seems the technicians went on holiday and left the Blu-ray conversion process to the interns; that, or the studio had a lens filter on loan from Janice Dickenson. Every single prior review is precisely accurate regarding the dismal toll DNR and EE have taken on what could have been a cinematic pleasure. To use an analogy; it's like living in the monkey house. After a while, one becomes acclimated to the terrible smell of dung, to such an extent one no longer notices the pungent odor. Whoever remastered Gladiator to this poor excuse for "Blu-ray" must have been so accustomed to seeing the same fuzzy and distorted images, they were incapable of realizing what a gratuitous and utterly worthless product they developed.Get more detail about Gladiator (Sapphire Series) [Blu-ray].

Low Price Inglourious Basterds (2-Disc Special Edition) [Blu-ray]

INGLORIOUS BASTERDS

As any one can tell you I am a huge QT fan and basically own everything he has been a part of. So of course when this film was released I had to go see it and the second it was out on DVD/BLU-RAY I had to own it. I knew from the moment this film was announced that it would be another QT classic with out a doubt. Say what you will but it was a major success and you can't discount that at all. I of course knew that I would love this film and of course I did. Call me a Fanboy or what ever but I really did enjoy the film being a QT fan or not.

QT had been writing this film for years and was looking to make this one of his best films ever, I think he did just that. Yes there is another film by this name that QT is a big fan of but this is not the same film. I do however recommend seeing that film because it is another fun one. Any way this film has been in the works long before it was released and I think the time spent on it shows. And for those who have for some reason yet to see this film it is not just about that naughty group of American soldiers who go by the films title. No in fact it tells the story of a group of different people who some how or some way all get brought together some how at some point.

The film follows of course The Basterds lead by Lt. Aldo Raine [Pitt] in their quest to punish and destroy Nazis across the land. Along with Jewish American soldiers like the Bear Jew [Eli Roth] and even German recruits [you will love one guy]. But others like the brilliant Colonel Hans Landa aka the Jew Hunter [played wonderfully by Christoph Waltz] and Shosanna who later becomes Emmanuelle Mimieux [Mélanie Laurent]. Add in a film star named Bridget von Hammersmark [Diane Kruger] and a German war hero Frederick Zoller [Daniel Brühl] and you have a great film.

The film is basically told like a book kinda broke into 5 chapters each continuing the story and bringing them all together at the same time. The first one is set in 1941 while the rest take place in 1944, but rest assured nothing seems out of place at all with the time jump. The chapters are 1.Once Upon a Time in Nazi Occupied France, 2.Inglourious Basterds, 3.German Night in Paris, 4.Operation Kino, and the explosive 5.Revenge of the Giant Face. Every chapter in my opinion is absolutely perfect. The first one is the introduction of the Jew Hunter in one of the best scenes in the film followed by chapter two which is the introduction of The Basterds. The third one is were we catch up with Shosanna who is now Emmanuelle and her admirer war hero Frederick. Chapter four shows us the actress and her plan to infiltrate a planned Nazi gathering for a film premiere. And finally the grand finish which I will not ruin for those who have yet to see it, excellent.

Tarantino has always been known to have great dialogue in his films and this one follows suit, the film is with out a doubt a QT film. The direction is flawless in my humble opinion and how could it be anything less. The cinematography is beautiful and the score is excellent as well, the perfect film is coming together. But it is the performances here that really are great with every one doing a great job. Christoph Waltz is the show stealer as the Jew Hunter and rightfully won the Oscar for Supporting Actor. He is with out a doubt the best thing about this film from the acting stand point and that is really saying something.

Brad Pitt is absolutely hilarious in this film is probably the most fun one in the film with the accent and attitude he showcases in the film. All of the Basterds are excellent in this film as one would expect and that includes filmmaker Eli Roth as the Bear Jew. Mélanie Laurent and Diane Kruger are wonderful in the two female leads for the film as QT has always been able to write strong female characters. Each one is a totally different character with a different life and style but they are more the same then they seem. Martin Wuttke is excellent as Hitler and who could disagree with that, he is hilarious with his little hair bouncing up and down and flopping every were when he is mad.

Daniel Brühl is also very well cast in the film as a Nazi war hero turned actor who has a thing for Mélanie Laurent's character. These two are great together and deliver one of the best scenes in the film. Also August Diehl is great in the one scene he is in as a German officer who may or may not be on to our heroes. The fact is every one in this film from the smallest part to the biggest are excellent in this film. I would highly recommend this film especially if you like great acting. Also Lawrence Bender returns as the producer for QT, just one more reason to get this. Go but this film now it is worth much more than a rental. The two disc special edition has some wonderful features from behind the scenes to the film within the film [the war heroes' film]. gotta love that Mike Myers cameo.

I waited a long time to see this film and with what was happening in my life around this time I needed an escape.

Cheap 300 [Blu-ray]

Zack Snyder's film adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel "300" is impressive. The movie has an overwhelming surrealness about it, due largely to the green-screen effects of the movie, perhaps; but once you've accepted it, it doesn't get in the way. Gerard Butler and the rest of the cast do a great job. The narrator (also a character in the film) grew on me as time went by. Buy Terminator Salvation (Director's Cut) [Blu-ray]

I had high hopes, like many, going into this film. As a fan of the franchise, I was looking forward to that "blown out of my seat" experience the other films of this saga have given me. Besides which, this is the film we've all been waiting for since the beginning, right? The future war! The resistance vs. Skynet! It couldn't possibly be bad, could it? Oh, you couldn't be more wrong!

This film lacked anything in the way of atmosphere or suspense. The mood of the film was extremely flat from almost the start and never really came to life. On top of that, I feel too much time was spent on the machines and not enough on John Connor and the humans (whom you'd think we should be rooting for). Sam Worthington's character, of the man made into a machine, never gained any sympathy or interest from me. The fact they gave away the "secret" to his character in the trailers, certainly didn't help that, either. His character's actions are schizophrenic, at best, half the time making little sense, if any, and almost never ring true. A major flaw, to be sure, with how much time he gets on screen. And where is the dark dystopian world, filled with death and destruction? One where humans are an endangered species, that are the prey to the machines that now rule? The glimpses we've seen in the past films are completely ignored here, which hurts the continuity of the franchise and this film's place within it.

Then you have Christian Bale, who plays John Connor as a "Batman-lite" affair. He uses the same kind of voice here, that he did in "The Dark Knight" and it just doesn't work. He portrays none of the charisma and leadership that we know the character is supposed to have. All the emotions we've felt for him in the past are all stripped away here, as he comes off like a whiny and self-absorbed jerk. Hardly one you'd want being the savior of the human race. None of the other resistance members get enough screen time to make any kind of impression on you, so you never develop any bond in what might happen to them. I don't know if the cast just didn't care about the film, or if the script just gave them nothing to work with, but there is no fire in any of the performances.

And even if the script doesn't let the actors down, it has more than a few problems itself. They never really explain why Sam Worthington's character is the one chosen by Skynet. The story never gives you any feelings of dread or panic, despite tons of action on the screen. And while those action sequences are well shot and choreographed, they lack any real excitement. It never gets your pulse pounding. Plus there are tons of little things in the film, like Connor's wife being pregnant, which get no explanation or even a passing mention. I mean, what's the point in doing that, if it doesn't mean anything? And why is Skynet herding people into camps (ala the Nazis)? Shouldn't it simply be destroying all human life, to protect itself and win the war? It is another plot point that makes no sense, nor is given any reasoning for, in a script filled with them. Worst of all, and the one major flaw that ruins the whole film for me, is how, after Skynet has captured Kyle Reese (played by Anton Yelchin, in one of the few decent performances in the film), it doesn't kill him immediately, but uses him as bait to lure John Connor into a rescue mission. This kind of thinking, in terms of revenge and greed, is an emotional human failing Skynet should not have. It is a machine. It should know the simple equation: "Kill Kyle Reese, John Connor is no more!" The only reason for it, is to provide the big end battle, where Connor faces the Terminator 101-model (with CGI used to show Arnold in his prime). It's all just a wasted effort and doesn't deliver any thrills.

Many folks blasted "T3" for some of the inconsistencies it had, but compared to this mess of a film, it was sheer cinematic brilliance! "Terminator Salvation" could truly be considered a franchise killer, on par with the fiasco that "Batman and Robin" was for the Batman one. Old school fans of this saga will not find this enjoyable, and any attempts to bring in new fans will be dashed at the overly-complicated back-story used to get them up to speed on this film. In short, this is a film that will appeal to few people, be they fans of these films or not. It is a complete waste of time, money and talent. And that is the purest definition of the term "whipped up movie," which this effort most assuredly is, that I can think of! It is easily one of the most disappointing films I've seen in some time.Get more detail about Terminator Salvation (Director's Cut) [Blu-ray].

There aren't many survivors left, and whatever survivors are out there have to remain on the run, due to if they do, they won't last that long. While a small handful of characters, returned in this move while we get some new characters along the way, like Claire Redfield for example. While in the games she was looking for her brother Chris, though in the movie it doesn't seem like she's trying to look for him due to not one mention of Chris in the movie. Though there is one character that finally made an appearance in this movie that I felt was a little overdue, and that's Albert Wesker. I was hoping that there would have been a mention of him in the first or second movie, though I wonder as to why they decided to save him for this movie.

The story itself seems that they decided to try something new with this movie, instead of trying to keep up with the game story other than that Umbrella was involved through the movie, still ticking. Though that the zombies are still about in the movie, Dr. Issacs is trying to research in what reversing what the T-Virus had left behind, but all in all he ends up becoming like obsessed and leading to his ultimate demise. While Alice manages to help out her new friends, then has decided to go after, the one that made what Umbrella done, and that's Wesker himself. Some of the features are nice, though there aren't much besides some deleted scenes and some behind the scene footage, along with a preview of the CGI movie `Resident Evil: Degeneration'. Overall I give it a 3.5 stars out of 5.Get more detail about Resident Evil - The High-Definition Trilogy (Resident Evil/ Resident Evil: Apocalypse/ Resident Evil: Extinction) [Blu-ray].

Shop For Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Two-Disc Special Edition) [Blu-ray]

This review is of the single disc edition DVD.

I'm not a cinema snob. I can watch an action film, turn my mind off and enjoy the explosions. For these types of film Michael Bay usually delivers and to a degree the first Transformers did. With Revenge of the Fallen he attempts to continue the story, upping the ante with a vast array of larger robots, bigger stakes and more scantily dressed ladies. Unfortunately in super-sizing these aspects others became watered down.

The story is non existent. The Decipticons are back and they want our sun for energy. It's that simple. Sam (Shia Labeouf) moves from pointless encounter to encounter without progressing the character or the plot. Megan Fox has little impact beyond being eye candy. Other secondary characters are of little importance and rehash their same old ideas.

What really disappointed me was the opportunity to expand the existing Transformer characters and that doesn't happen, at all. I believe Optimus Prime shares one scene with Sam and only Bumblebee really returns. A wasted opportunity. In their place are a couple of `comedy' bots in the style of gangster wanabees. Cringeworthy at every moment. The action also suffers. It has become more disjointed, hard to watch and understand the geography of the scenes. Someone explain less is more to Bay please.

With all these criticisms it may sound like I hate this movie. Far from it. I'm always happy to see an exploding robot, it looks expensive and Shia's Sam is always interesting to watch.

I would recommend this as a Saturday night movie when little else is on. Make some popcorn, open a beer and zone out.Get more detail about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Two-Disc Special Edition) [Blu-ray].

Monsters, Inc. (4-Disc Edition) [Blu-ray]

Upgraded the firmware to the lastest version (version 20), installed a usb memory drive (after formating it per Sony's instruction, hard-reset the player per Sony's insturction, even obtained a second Monsters, Inc. Blu-ray disc to play on the Sony BDP-BX1. Disc was stuck after the director's intro. Sony could not provide an answer as to why this blu-ray disc would not play on Sony BDP-BX1. Tried the disc on a newer Sony BDP-S360, and it played fine.Get more detail about Monsters, Inc. (4-Disc Edition) [Blu-ray].

Sherlock Holmes [Blu-ray] Review

The movie is wonderful. Scientific, whimsical, dramatic, thrilling, and surprising, everything I love about Sherlock Holmes stories. The music score blends perfectly with the settings, even a place for some pubsong.

The DVD however has several trailers that cannot be skipped, and must be fast-forwarded through individually. This in and of itself makes me want to return it and buy a pirated copy because they don't have that. I have already PAID for the dvd, I don't want to be forced into watching advertising as well. I will watch the trailers the 2nd or 3rd time willingly, but if I am forced to watch them every time, you can bet I will NEVER want to see them in their own glory. Categorize it under:Bad Idea!

There are no deleted scenes or behind the scenes footage, basically no special features at all. This is just disappointing. Seriously, why spend the money on it, again WB is just making a good case for us to stop buying retail and pay less for a better product with the pirated copies.Get more detail about Sherlock Holmes [Blu-ray].
